The use of one(s), another, others, and the other(s)

How to use one(s), another, others, and the other(s) on the sentence?

  1. One and Ones, used to replace the noun(s) mentioned before. One is singular and ones is plural.

e.g. there are several brands notebook . Which one do you like?

They are not nice sneakers. The ones over there are really cool.

  2. Another and others, another means an additional one or one more. Others is the plural from of another and mean additional ones or more.

e.g. this bag has a scratch on it. Can you show me another (one), please?

Only one type of notebook is on sale. Others are all regularly priced.

  3. The other or the other one refers to the second of two things.

e.g. I will take two subjects in this class. One is data communication and the other is object oriented programming.

  4. The others or the other ones refers to two or more things.

e.g. why do you want this particular brand? The others are just as good, maybe even better.
